Subject: Our Coatesville Concert

Mike Raferty, Willie Kelly and I would like to thank you, Frank, for inviting us to play for the traditional Irish music series at the Coatesville Cultural Society. It was a wonderful experience, from the warm hospitality of your home, to the ideal venue for the concert and the truly appreciative audience for our music. The ambiance of the theater, the quality of the sound system, the professionalism of your volunteer crew, all made the evening a treat for us. We're honored to have played for the CTIMS and we hope you'll be able continue furthering traditional Irish music for a long time to come.

All the best, Felix Dolan

"Thank you Frank for hosting my solo piping concert and for the wonderful hospitality. I greatly enjoyed playing in Coatesville; what a super theatre you have there...a little oasis in Coatesville!  I have to congratulate you on your initiative and dedication in the promotion of the 'pure drop', and I was especially delighted to note the many Irish traditional music luminaries with whom I have now shared the venue in Coatesville. "
Frank Dalton runs a truly outstanding music series. In fact there is nothing like it in the US. He gets the very best Irish traditional musicians and singers, presents them in concert with the best state-of-the-art staging and sound reinforcement and also runs teaching workshops where they are matched up with pupils who otherwise might never have the chance to meet these artists, let alone learn from them one-on-one.

"What makes Frank's series so special is that he invariably presents artists who despite their brilliance would not in the normal course of events be presented by individuals, organizations or institutions that wish to make a financial gain.

"As an accomplished musician himself Frank has an intuitive knowledge of the 'scene' that most other promoters do not have and his curatorial skills are infused by that deep insider knowledge. He has great 'street cred' among traditional Irish musicians and also among that growing band of aficionados that form the core group of his audience. "

"It is always an honour to be invited to play, not only in the big cities but in smaller communities like Coatesville, PA. It is especially encouraging to be treated with such respect as shown by the CTIMS and have an enthusiastic packed house waiting for you. I know this cannot be done without somebody's hard endeavours and personal commitment. The survival of traditional music as a performance art relies on such people as Frank Dalton. "

"I had the good fortune of performing for Frank Dalton's traditional Irish music series in Coatesville, PA, in January of 2005.  I could not possibly have been more happy with the treatment I received from Frank and the crew of volunteers who were there to assist him. I was fortunate to have a nice crowd come to my show and I enjoyed a good response to my fiddle workshop.

The venue for the series, The Coatesville Cultural Society, is outstanding. Frank was truly a gentleman and his selfless devotion to the promotion of Irish music through this series could not be more apparent.  I thoroughly endorse Frank as a truly devoted servant of folk art and in particular Irish Music, and would recommend him to anyone.  He can be counted upon to produce a professional event."

"On behalf of 'Chulrua', I just wanted to say thanks for having us as part of the Coatesville Irish traditional music series. Our experience was wonderful and the evening was very professionally handled. We realize how much time and effort it takes to get these things to work.  I noticed that the series has had quite a nice line up in the past and that the upcoming concerts seem to cover all aspects of the styles and instrumentation of traditional Irish music.

We wish the series continued success for the future, and we look forward to a return visit.  Good work, Frank!"

"Thanks Frank!  You're a gent.  I'm really glad you took on the gig with myself and Peadar O'Loughlin!  You really made it happen and I'm very glad it all went well so well.  Thanks for a great welcome and a wonderful experience in Pennsylvania.  You are the very epitome of the 'Real America'!  On both our behalves, thank you again very much. Keep up the good work!  All the best... "

"At the Coatesville Cultural Society, the usual invisible wall between performers and audience simply does not exist. In this cozy venue, it's as if the musicians had just dropped by and were playing in organizer Frank Dalton's living room. If there's a
better venue for hearing traditional Irish music in the Delaware Valley, I can't
imagine what it is."
